Paul Roby is the Associate Principal Second Violin of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Paul came to the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1991 after successive years with the Baltimore Symphony and the Washington National Symphony Orchestra where he held the same position. In Philadelphia Paul has served under Music Directors Riccardo Muti, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Christoph Eschenbach, and current director Yannick Nezêt-Seguin. Paul has played with many of the great artists of our time, including Pavarotti, Perlman , Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Renée Fleming, and Frederica von Stade. Paul has also performed with Jonathon Biss and Rudolph Buchbinder on the Orchestra’s chamber music series, and most recently Brahms Piano Quintet with Maestro Nezêt-Seguin.
